Telus Skins World Golf at Lora Bay

For the last two days Christa and I were shooting at The Raven Golf Club. Located at Lora Bay just outside Thronbury, Ontario. It is a brand new course that looks much older than it's 18 months. We were there to cover The Telus 2007 World Skins Competition. Christa was there to get photographs for the local papers and I was there for mycollingwood.ca. The glofers were, John Daly, Stephen Ames, Retief Goosen, Colin Montgomerie and Geoff Ogilvy. It was a great experience if at times a bit warm. It was the first time either of us had shot golf so it was quite a challenge to keep up with the other media and golfers as they charged around the course. Fortunately they only played 9 holes each day which was just as well for us beginners. Still a good couple of days, though not as good as it was for John Daly who won over $300K... Maggie's 6 Months Old

Maggie was 6 months old yesterday so though I'd post some photographs of her... don't let the cute looks fool you, she's training us well.

For Brides:Answers to Questions about your Wedding Day Photography

Getting married is a big deal... for many people it's the most important day of their lives. The average cost of a wedding in Canada, according to a recent survey by Weddingbells.ca. is now over $17,000 and according to Wedding-photography.ca. over $3,000 of that is spent on photography. So considering the investment in both emotion and money these photographs represent and the fact that they will remind you for a life time of that ‘perfect day’, it’s worth spending time researching your photographer and finding out as much as you can about it. To that end a relatively new site has been started by some people who know a thing or two about wedding photography. It's aim is to dispel the myths surrounding wedding photography and if your photographs are important to you then I definitely recommend you check the site out. Use the link here or below.

Get Serious Workshop

The week before Alaska I took part in a three day workshop led by Judy Cormier who is Elementz of Fotographie.

What a great three days made so, by not only Judy but also the other photographers as well as the super brides we shot on the 2nd day. Today I have had time to look at the images I shot and post a few of my favorite here on our blog.

If you'd like to see some of the work done by other the photographers then go here.

A week in Alaska

It is hard to believe, as I look at my last entry that over two weeks have passed since my last entry. It's been a busy couple of weeks.

This last week I had the pleasure conducting a training course on board the Sapphire Princess. Joining in Vancouver we sailed to Whittier in Alaska, via Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier Bay and College Fjord. It has to be said that the weather could have been better but even so, the scenery remains majestic whatever Mother Nature throws at you. I have often thought if you only ever do one cruise then the seven day Alaskan Cruise should be the one you choose. There is incredible scenery to enjoy and the local cuisine is always a delight. Mainly salmon and halibut… Sailing among the fjords also gives you a wonderful perspective on life and our place, as human beings, on the planet. I always leave Alaska somehow feeling better than when I arrived.

The guys and girls on my training course were a great bunch and we had a lot of fun, even if the last two days, for many of them, were spent finding their sea legs. One of the things I really enjoy about these courses is that I am working with people who are new to working on cruise ships and excited to be here. Long may that last for them.

With all that said I am glad to be going home. (I'm writing this in the Ted Stevens International Airport waiting for my flight home.)It is a good feeling to have somewhere to call home and an even better feeling to have someone to come home too.
