Warming Up

So here we are fast approaching April, already, and the snow and ice has mostly left us. The photograph below shows where we photographed Steve & Steph just over 10 days ago. It would be a very different shoot now!

Took part last night in a live forum debate on Pictage, led by Pepper Nix and her husband Mitchell Burt from Peppernix Photography. Not sure about their website but for sure their photography is awesome. It is easy to see why people are starting to rave about them. As Christa and I travel along this road of developing our wedding and portrait business it is becoming apparent that many of the most successful photographers today are those who are happy to help others with advice and guidance. Pepper and Mitch were very generous with their advice and a number of their suggestions will, in one form or another be taken up here at Isis Photography.

Tomorrow I am leaving Canada for the fine State of Texas to join the Grand Princess for a week. There I will be leading a photographers training course whilst we sail around the Caribbean visiting a number of ports in Mexico. Should be fun.

Networking at the Collingwood Chamber of Commerce

Yesterday evening Christa and I headed out for a little networking. The Collingwood Chamber of Commerce holds regular after 5's which is a time for members to get together for a little bit of networking. Last night it was held at Le Scandinave Spa. It's a new spa in the European style and looks like a great place to go and relax. It might even be a pretty cool place for some photography. Nibbles were from Cafe Chartreuse and were delicious. It lovely place for our first venture into this sort of thing and fortunately for us we have met a lady called Julie Card who is the person behind mycollingwood.ca. This website is where people go to find out what is happening in and around Collingwood as well as articles of interest to the local area. Julie knows how to network (and some) and is happy to share her knowledge and point us in the right direction. So last night we met several people all of who were lovely and seemed genuinely interested in us.
Christa was fantastic. For someone who claims that she finds these sorts of events difficult she made all sorts of great impressions. I will definitely have to try harder. It was a very interesting night and was the final confirmation we were looking for that we should indeed join the Collingwood Chamber of Commerce.

Scanning a lot harder than using digital files!

I am so glad that we use digital capture rather than having to scan negatives. What a work up that is! Still these two images below I'm pretty pleased with.
